Reporting a result you think is wrong

Use the Report a wrong result link at the bottom of any calculator. It opens an email already containing the exact calculation, because the page URL encodes every input you entered. That turns "your curtain calculator is wrong" into something reproducible, which is the only kind of report that can actually be acted on.

If you would rather write from scratch, the most useful things to include are:

• The link from the address bar, or the measurements you entered.
• The figure you expected, and where it came from.
• Which allowance you think differs — heading, hem, side hems, fullness, or the repeat.

Suggesting a tool

There is a long list of calculators worth building — Roman blinds, sofa upholstery, quilt backing and binding, bias binding, elastic length. What gets built next is decided by what people actually search for and ask for, so a request genuinely moves it up the list.

Corrections to the reference tables

The roll widths, cutting increments and heading allowances published here are common trade figures, not standards, and they vary by region and supplier. If one of them is wrong for where you are, say so and say what it should be — that kind of correction is the most valuable mail this site gets.
